15 - Bleach Drabble

Untitled, 360 words, Ichigo/Ishida, Bleach.

For caliowiel.

Ichigo sometimes asks Ishida to join him in his training, even though he knows the latter prefers to train alone.

He insists that he’s only asking (no, he’s actually forcing. He would never allow Ishida to refuse him) the Quincy because he needs a worthy sparring partner, and because Ishida was the only one who ever came close to defeating him, (well, not that close) he makes the perfect choice, but Ichigo knows there’s another reason. He feels it, deep down there, but he’s never going to admit that because it’s wrong.

Because it’s a vulnerability.

Yet, sometimes, Ichigo just can’t control himself.

When Ishida’s not watching, he looks at him through the corners of his eyes. Looks at Ishida as he strikes the air with his Zangetsu, looks on with every roll and jump and tumble.

Ichigo sees the concentration on the Quincy’s face as he aims with his bow at the target, sees the tiny beads of sweat trickling down his forehead. Ishida’s always been a perfectionist, and when he doesn’t hit the target, he quickly draws out another arrow to correct it. This doesn’t happen a lot, but when it does, Ichigo knows Ishida becomes disgusted with himself. Ishida’s moves are always well thought of and calculated, while Ichigo’s will always remain spontaneous and impulsive, no matter what he does. Ichigo’s no perfectionist, however, he values his pride. He would never ever admit to failure.

Funny how Ichigo finds out their differences and similarities with just one stare. But it’s never enough, so on the next session, he does it again.

Then, one day, Ishida notices.

“Oi, Ichigo.”

Ichigo pretends he doesn’t hear him, and continues to lash out the space in front of him.

“Don’t stare too much, it breaks my concentration.” And then the Quincy chuckles (stupidly, Ichigo thinks) and releases his arrow.

Ichigo feels the heat rising up to his cheeks, but he casts it off with a smirk.

But when Ichigo sneaks another glance at the other boy, he is surprised to see that there is a slight flush on the Quincy’s cheeks as well, and a small smile playing on his lips.

Yeah, I don't do Bleach that well. -_-'

But I still love it! You know that whatever you write will end up getting praised in my books. :)

I <3 it. I've missed watching Bleach since I got here in the US, so this is a very welcome reminder of how much I like the series (and the pairing, lol).

Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this! :D
Ahehe. Thank you!!! I wasn't sure if you'd like it, since it's my first time writing Bleach, but. You heart it! Yay!

Oh, and you're lucky you get to watch Bleach at all. I'm stuck reading the manga! (Not that I don't like it, it's just that I want to see the anime, too.)

I hope you're having a grand time in the US! :D Be safe! ;p

*oh, and of course! Anything for you! ♥
